Corsages and buttonholes...What are they and who wears one? This is a question I am asked quite a lot, the basic answer is anyone who you feel is special enough to need one on your wedding day, each wedding is different and budgets allow for different things. For example most families have a tradition to give a buttonhole to each of the men in the bridal party, the dads and possibly grandfathers or other men who are very special about the place and corsages to mums and possibly grandmothers and any other special women around the place. Some wedding traditions call for everyone at the wedding to be given a buttonhole or corsage. See lower on this page for more info on buttonholes and corsages.

I would love to have berries, vine or beaded wire in my corsages and buttonholes can this be done? Yes you can add any extras into these that you like, it could be a simple crystal in the center of a frangipani or beaded wire cris crossing the flowers or vines or simple berries, just ask and I can give you a quote for this in most cases this will add 50c each per item that you are adding so for example if you wanted to add vines and berries to a real touch frangipani buttonhole, buttonhole $5 vine 50c, berries 50c total $6.
Do I have to have the same flowers that I am carrying for the buttonholes and corsages for the mums and dads? No you don’t have to have the same flowers I do however recommend that you choose flowers that are fairly neutral in colour and a lot of brides tend to choose flowers similar to what the bridal party are carrying but they certainly do not have to be the same. For example if you have brightly coloured flowers or large oriental lilies these are two good examples of when you could choose different flowers to go into the buttonholes and corsages.
Why do I need corsages and buttonholes seem like a waste of time and money to me? The modern day bride these days often says they do not like the buttonhole and corsage tradition however there are a few reasons for giving mums and dads (and other special people) buttonholes and corsages. Firstly it is a sign of respect to this person to let them know they are special. Also it helps for guests at the wedding who may not know who the mother or fathers are that they are the people to perhaps approach and say hello and so on.
I want wrist corsages you don’t seem to have these listed here where are they? In most cases corsages would be shoulder corsages not wrist corsages for mums and nannas. You will find all the pricing listed on this page is for shoulder corsages if you are wanting these converted to wrist corsage please let me know and I can quote you for the price difference to have shoulder corsages made into wrist corsages. You option would be to have them attached using ribbon or pearl wrist bands. I do not use elastic bands these are uncomfortable and very unreliable.
How do you attach a buttonhole or corsage? All buttonholes and corsages will come with brooch pins on the back you simply need to pin them on. These are the best way to attach these items. If specifically requested I can use magnets however these will tend to wobble around a bit more....pins hold on the most securely. No artificial buttonholes or corsages should be attached with pearl headed pins these days there is no fleshy stems like there are with fresh flowers for the pins to sink into so if your florist is still using this old method of attaching buttonholes and corsages you may want to re think them.
Which way up does a buttonhole or corsage go? Buttonholes will face up with the stem facing down and is worn by a man. Corsages worn by a woman are usually a bit bigger than a buttonhole with some small bows the flowers aim down with the bows and stem facing up. Corsages are too large to go around the other way like a buttonhole they will hang out from the persons clothes.
