23/02/10 Ok I feel like things are just standing still again at the shop we have dedicated our weekends to getting the shop ready but between kids tennis lessons and doing the cleaning, and shopping and gardening at home we did not even go there this last weekend. I am having local brides and their mums call with frustration in their voice that the showroom is not ready for them yet, I do not know what to say to them it is still going to be a few weeks the aim was for early March but I think it is looking like Mid to Late March now so I am sorry if you are one of the local brides that is waiting for me I am working as hard as I can for you.. It will get there and it will look great but it is a huge process, it is a very old building. I have managed to work without a shop for 5 years and the 98% of customers that could never come and see me that were interstate or overseas things are getting harder for as I am not at home all the time to take their calls people are still trying to fax me on my home number but there is no fax here any more. I think I am going to have to buy one for home. There is as many orders for March as there were for Dec, Jan and Feb put together so there is so much work to be done at the moment it is a bit like drowning in work but I am getting through it all and everyone will have their flowers on time. The brides that are calling me still with only 2 weeks before their wedding I will not be able to do these weddings until it is a little less busy. Everyone keeps asking me what am I going to sell in the shop is is only weddings? I am going to be selling all sorts of things. Wedding sundries like bonbonniere, ribbons (roll and meter), wire and parafilm etc, horseshoes garters, tiaras, then there is some main stream stuff like artificial plants and hanging baskets, arrangements for work or home, its a boy and its a girl arrangements, valentines/mothers day/xmas, loose flowers. It goes on and on, basically a florist but only quality artificial no fresh at all... A florist closed down up the road from me at Xmas time and the local people of Walkerville were hoping for a fresh florist I think but I do not even have running water so this is just not an option.  Anyway thanks everyone for your patience I will try to catch you up on some more info and maybe some pics next time I blog.

16/02/10 Things are starting to fall into place for the showroom of the shop, the stock from the old drapery that was there is starting to be moved out which means we can set to work painting inside and getting it ready for stock to go in, I am working in the studio at the back and all my stock has moved from home to the shop so my family are happy they have a bit more space to move around, I am finding that people are still ringing me on the home number during the day and not taking the opportunity to talk to me at the shop phone, I am not sure how else to overcome this but I am sure it will work out as time goes on. I have a massive amount of work to do at the moment and am a couple of weeks behind on my orders so I thank you for your patience if you are waiting for your flowers at the moment I am working as hard as I physically can and you will have some pics soon.

11/02/10Well it is all happening, I have had my first day working at the shop today, the new number is ready to go 0883444222, this is the number to call me on now, I am working from the studio but the showroom is not ready yet. Please call me on the new number 9-3 in the day central standard time is when you will get me , the old number/s are for personal calls only now and will be phased out on all my order forms etc from now on. Please see the q and a page for more info.

07/02/10 Well it is all underway at the shop, things are starting to happen, old cupboards and shelving have been removed, new glass is going in, my stock has been 80% moved in, my workbench should be on the way soon, there are signs in the window to say what is going on, I will be working there in the coming week but the showroom is filled with material rolls that were left in the shop from the previous draper shop that are being sold off next weekend 13th and 14th of Feb. If you are wanting to buy any material, lace, buttons, zippers etc etc etc... be at 75 Walkerville Terrace, Walkerville on sat and sun next week at 8am. first in best dressed. If you wait till sunday you may miss out. So much is going on I can hardly find time to sleep right now.

20/01/10 Well it is a week to go today until I start my lease on my new shop and I get to move out of home and into the real world of flowers, I have been busily buying stock and shelving, paint etc and working out all the things I need, I am getting a bit excited now.

12/01/10 Happy new year ladies I hope you have had a nice time over the last couple of weeks, myself I have been overwhelmingly busy doing orders and having the kids home from school, getting ready for my youngest son Mitch to start school for the first time. And in the process have found a location to call home for wedding bunches and blooms. The family have finally said we want you out Mum. LOL. I will be doing all artificial flowers (no fresh sorry), arrangements for the home, its a boy/its a girl arrangements, special occasion, loose flowers and sundries, DIY wedding flower items and ribbons. If you live in Adelaide or are coming to Adelaide a trip to my store will be a must see. So we have a lot to do, painting, fixing, buying furniture, etc etc etc....

I will be in touch....

What do I look like at the other end of the emails????

My Family001

I am so often asked what did my wedding flowers look like on my wedding day. Well here they are, I did have fresh flowers which I did myself all those years ago. I am very sad as I have no pictures of my table centers which were tall arum lilies....This is probably why I love to send pics to everyone of what their flowers looked like. The pic below is my fav where my now late Aunty Brenda had literally showered us with confetti, she grabbed the front of my dress and poured the stuff down my (our) front and in my hair and eyes and mouth, this pic was straight after it had happened. She was naughty and we miss her.

I am often asked why did I not use artificial flowers like I sell on my website, the reason I was married 12 years ago and artificial flowers were pretty ugly and not in fashion then, these days artificial flowers often look better than fresh flowers.  Back then the best flowers were dew drop roses  ....  ugly. If I were to do it again which I am not, I would never choose fresh flowers. I now do not have the keepsake of my special flowers other than the pictures.

About Millie

Hi my name is Melanie Browning, however everyone calls me Millie, I would like to tell you a little about me and what I do.

I have been a florist since starting in the workforce when I was 18 years old after leaving school and now 17 years later I found my self at home with my second son on maternity leave. I decided to start my own business at home with the kids so here I am 5 years later. I have 17 years experience working in florist shops and retail and have always found that my favorite thing to make was wedding flowers.

My aim is to offer sensible pricing to brides, and to be totally honest with brides and be up front with my pricing so you do not have to go hunting to find out what something costs. I also aim to offer you very personalized service, I can guide you as little or as much as you would like. You are welcome to e-mail or call me as often as you like.

I offer a range of flowers for everyone in your wedding party. All the floral bouquets and arrangements that you see here are handcrafted by myself. I create each wedding arrangement individually as they are ordered and then delivered to your door. I work very hard to keep my prices extremly competitive. I only use the highest quality artificial blooms available. I pride myself on the realistic looking arrangements that I create, only the best will do.

I do have a free catalogue that you can choose from or I can custom make flowers for you. Or if you have an unusual idea for your flowers that you are having trouble finding someone to make, or you would simply like a quote, please let me know. Please remember that there are more designs listed in the catalogue than are displayed on the web-site.

I invite you to sit back and view just some of my collections of flowers.
